Commitments for Minorities Rights

  • Support reform initiatives to improve the operational performance of courts. This will include supporting courts to digitize case records, case management reforms, and the establishment of an institution to provide free legal aid to needy litigants as well as to vulnerable groups like women, juveniles and minorities.
  • PTI will protect the civil, social and religious rights of minorities; their places of worship, property and institutions as laid down in the Constitution.
  • Enactment of structural reform to establish a legally empowered, well resourced and independent National Commission on Minorities, followed by provincial Commissions/Departments.
  • Equal access to justice and protection from discrimination in matters of law and order to minorities.
  • We will act against hate speech and violence towards minorities under the National Action Plan.
  • PTI will ensure that the minority quota in all government departments shall be implemented in letter and spirit.
  • PTI will organise inter-faith dialogue, especially among young people to promote tolerance and harmony.
  • Well-coordinated steps to be introduced for the wellbeing and protection of Minorities so that they enjoy and play their due role as equal citizens of Pakistan.
  • Special welfare programs will be launched for the uplift of Minorities.
  • Minorities will be facilitated to celebrate their religious and cultural days.
  • Students belonging to minorities should be awarded scholarships on merit to enable them to have higher education.
  • The term “Minorities’ will be gradually eliminated and the term ‘Non-Muslim Pakistani’ will be introduced to internalize the concept of inclusive citizenship.
  • Quota reserved for the Minorities in employment will be further strengthened in accordance with population. The said quota will also be extended to educational facilities.
  • Include awareness in school curricula to eliminate preconceived notions about minority groups.
  • Initiate skill-training program to increase life opportunities of minorities
  • Set up interest free loan schemes for minorities.
  •  The PPP government will ensure freedom of assembly and association which has been under stress, as those working on issues in human rights, women rights, minorities rights and on alternate narratives on policy issues are denied this fundamental human right.
  • PPP will continue to invest in providing security to areas where religious or ethnic minorities reside in large numbers, so that they can live without fear of discrimination or persecution.
  • Ensure legislative measures to create equal opportunities for minorities.
  • Ensure the protection of minorities at all levels of educational institutions.
  • Revive the National Commission on Minorities with a proper secretariat to highlight the issues of minorities and vulnerable communities of the country.
  • Ensure the true enforcement of job quotas for the minorities.
  • Engage enlightened and progressive religious scholars from all faiths and sects for interfaith harmony and dialogue.
  • Prevent forced conversion through legislative measures.
  • ANP is committed to equal rights and opportunities for all citizens, nationalities, groups irrespective of gender, religion, race, class and creed. All discriminatory laws shall be repealed. The essence of security will be guaranteed among women, elderly and people with disabilities, transgender, religious and ethnic minorities.
  • The Party will continue its effort to evolve consensus on direct elections on reserved seats for non-Muslims and increase their representation in public sector decision making. ANP will increase seats for religious minorities in the local government, national and provincial assemblies with a minimum of 33 percent of the seats allocated for non-Muslim women.
  • ANP will increase job quota for religious minorities and ensure its implementation.
  • ANP will make efforts to review and remove all discriminations against religious minorities in the Constitution and the law and will ensure affirmative action to integrate religious minorities as equal citizens.
  • ANP will ensure security, restoration and facilitation of temples, churches, gurdwaras or any other place of worship of religious minorities.
  • ANP will increase job quota for religious minorities and ensure its implementation.
  • ANP will declare official holidays on all main religious festivals celebrated by religious minorities.
  • Religious laws and customs will take precedence in personal affairs of minorities.
  • They will be provided with education, employment and other civil rights.
  • Special care will be taken to protect and honour their places of worship.
  • Biased, unfair and improper treatment of minorities will be addressed.
  • An easy and effective way for minorities to vote and elect representatives will be devised.
