Codes of conduct are sets of do’s and don’ts that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) devises for various stakeholders of the electoral process, which include political parties, candidates, polling agents, polling staff, security staff, local and international observers and the media. All of these stakeholders are required to abide by their codes of conduct, the violation of which is punishable under law. The ECP monitors the implementation of these codes during the elections and can impose penalties on violators. The ECP’s codes of conduct are issued by the ECP are provided below.
