JI espouses an Islamic welfare state where basic needs like food, clothing, housing, health, education and justice is accessible to all and where people can vote the governments in and out of power. The Jammat strongly supports legislation with Islamic elements, such as the Hudood Ordinance or Blasphemy law and would resist any effort to amend them. Jammat has been consistently critical of the ‘war on terror’ and the military action in Tribal Areas. It favours negotiations with the Taliban. It is also critical of the alliance with the US, which it regards akin to slavery. |
