This is basically report prepared by NDI about the state of democracy after 1999 takeover of military. The report is based on information collected by NDI delegation while in visit to Pakistan. The report is comprised of description of political developments, including an assessment of the current political situation and factors that contributed to the military takeover. It also includes the narrative of military-regime and its stated agenda and priorities. Finally, the report presents recommendations for long-term strengthening of democratic project in Pakistan and discusses the possible assistance of NDI and other similar type of organizations for democracy.
