This is a manual developed by NDI with close coordination of UNDP that explains that on the one side, gender equality and women’s empowerment pertains to basic human rights, and on the other side, these are significant for achieving wide-ranging, rightful and sustainable development. Political participation of women is essential imperative to materialize this goal. The role of political parties is also central for endorsing and cultivation of women electoral and political participation. It is estimated that parliaments worldwide have less than twenty per cent of women representation. Therefore, political parties need to do more to increase women representation. This manual provides parties the way to achieve that goal of women empowerment and participation.
