This research reports discusses the devolution of power envisioned and implemented through old age demand of provincial autonomy through 18th amendment in the constitution in 2010. The report discusses that since 1973, the baseline year of 1973 constitution, this is the significant and wide ranging institutional restructuring undertaken by a democratically elected parliament. Faced with the challenge of ensuring democratic transition after a decade of military rule, political parties in Pakistan, led by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its coalition allies, reset the concept and the implementation of federalism through the passage of the 18th Amendment.
