He has been selected as Governor of Punjab in August, 2018. On 3 March 2018, he was elected as a Senator from Punjab. He has been Senator of Pakistan (2013-2015). He holds the status as the first Muslim to sit in the British parliament. He had also served as Governor of Punjab (2013-2015). Chaudhry Sarwar was appointed as Punjab governor by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in 2013. He resigned in 2015 and currently affiliated with PTI.
