PPP started with a pro-poor, socialist agenda, promising ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ to every citizen of Pakistan. While the party still espouses the same ideal, it has adjusted its policy towards a more centric approach in the economic sphere. It advocates civil liberties, human rights, women and minority rights. Of late the PPP has pursued a policy of reconciliation in domestic politics. It has also made efforts to improve relations with neighboring India and Iran, and strengthening ties with China while at the same time maintaining cordiality with the US. |
