SUKKUR: PML-F, PML-N, JUI-F and PTI have been suspecting pre-poll rigging in the local bodies’ elections, and in this regard hundreds of workers of these parties staged a demonstration on the Main City Road in Khairpur and accused some PPP candidates of indulging in pre-poll rigging.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to implement strictly the code of conduct during the local bodies (LB) elections in Punjab and Sindh.
DIR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the election for Wari Tehsil Nazim and Naib Nazim after the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) got a stay order from the court. Previously, the election for the position of nazim and naib nazim in Wari tehsil had twice ended in a tie. The re-election was slated for September 20, but the JI got a stay order from the court a day earlier. Senior Civil Judge Dir granted the stay order.
HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has found a way to implement the Sindh High Court’s order regarding the resolution of the “patent irregularities” in the delimitation of local government constituencies. However, the only complication is likely to be a mild violation of the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013.
MIRPURKHAS: As many as 772 candidates have filed nomination papers for different seats of local government elections in the Mirpurkhas district. Polls would be conducted for the district council, two municipal and six town committees and 46 union councils on November 19 under the second phase of LG elections in Sindh.
